“Your parcel is being held at the warehouse”, “The address is incorrect”, “Pay a small delivery fee”. If you shop online often, a message like this looks perfectly normal — and that is exactly what scammers count on.
The link opens a page that looks like a courier company's site. The amount is tiny, so people enter their card details without a second thought. But the goal is not that small fee: with your card number, CVV and SMS code they take a much larger sum.
Sometimes the page also asks for your name, address and phone number — this is later used for more scam calls.
How to protect yourself
- Track parcels only in the official app of the shop or courier company.
- Didn't order anything? Simply ignore the message.
- Never enter card details on links asking for a “small extra fee”.
- If an SMS code arrives during payment, read carefully which amount and which merchant it mentions.
- Delete the suspicious message and block the number.
